چکیده

The High Energy X-ray Timing Experiment (HEXTE) is one of three scientiic instruments aboard the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE), which was launched on December 30, 1995. RXTE performs timing and spectral studies of bright x-ray sources to determine the physical parameters of these systems. The HEXTE consists of two independent clusters of detectors, each cluster containing four NaI(Tl)/CsI(Na) phoswich scintillation counters sharing a common 1 FWHM eld of view. The eld of view of each cluster is switched on-and oo-source to provide near real-time background measurements. The net open area of the eight detectors is 1600 cm 2 , and each detector covers the energy range 15?250 keV with an average energy resolution of 15.4% at 60 keV. The in-ight performance of the HEXTE is described, the light curve and spectrum of the Crab Nebula/Pulsar is given, and the 15?240 keV spectrum of the weak source, active galaxy MCG 8-11-11 is presented to demonstrate the weak source spectral capabilities of HEXTE.

The unusual properties of the bursting X-ray pulsar GRO J1744-28 are explained in terms of a low-mass X-ray binary system consisting of an evolved stellar companion transferring mass through Roche-lobe overrow onto a neutron star, implying that the inclination of the system is < 18. Interpretation of the QPO at frequency QPO = 40 Hz using the beat-frequency model of Alpar & Shaham and the measu...

Effects of High Doses of X-Ray on Hematological Parameters and Morphology of Red Blood Cells in Human Blood

Introduction: The aim of the current study was to investigate the effects of X-ray radiation on some hematological parameters, morphology of red blood cells (RBC) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) analysis of human blood using computed tomography (CT) scanner. Material and Methods: For the purpose of the study, 5 ml of wholeblood was drawn from vein puncture of 28 healthy people and div...

We present results of a 3 year monitoring campaign of the Seyfert 1 galaxy Markarian 509, using X-ray data from the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer and optical data taken by the SMARTS consortium. Both light curves show significant variations, and are strongly correlated with the optical flux leading the X-ray flux by 15 days. The X-ray power spectrum shows a steep high-frequency slope of −2.0, bre...

Dehydrogenation of Isobutane Over Nanoparticles of Pt/Sn Alloy on Pt/Sn/Na-Y Catalyst: The Effect of Tin Precursor on the Catalyst Behavior

In this research Na-Y was synthesized by hydrothermal method and used as support for preparation of Sn/Pt/Na-Y catalysts using two different tin precursors, Bu3Sn(Cl) and SnCl2.2H2O, by sequential impregnation, in which the Pt  was deposited first and in the next step Sn was deposited. The catalysts were characterized by H2 chemisorption, transmis...
